The Ontario Online Learning Consortium (“eCampusOntario”) is committed to protecting the privacy of your Personal Information.

Personal Information.  Personal Information means any information that can specifically identify an individual, including their name, address, and telephone number.

Consent.  By using the Ontario Online Learning Consortium online “Website and Portal”, you agree with the terms of this Privacy Statement. Whenever you submit Personal Information to or via the Website (and Portal), you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of that Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Statement.

Protection of Personal Information.  eCampusOntario takes all reasonable steps to ensure that your Personal Information is kept safe from loss or unauthorized access, including, but not limited to, through the implementation of physical, technical, and operational measures. eCampusOntario complies with all applicable privacy laws.

Collection of Information.  eCampusOntario only collects Personal Information that is voluntarily provided by a person in connection with their use of the Website (and Portal) and other services of eCampusOntario.

It is a common standard to use automatic data collection tools, such as cookies, embedded web links and web beacons. The Website (and Portal) follows this model. These tools collect standard information that the user’s browser sends to the Website (and Portal), such as the user’s browser type or the address of the website from which they arrived. The tools may also collect information about the user’s Internet Protocol (IP) address (a number automatically assigned to their computer whenever they are navigating the web, allowing web servers to locate and identify their computer) and user behaviors, such as the pages they view and the links they click.

Use of Personal Information.  Personal Information shall only be used for the purpose for which it was collected.  Unless the purpose is self-evident due to the nature of the transaction in question, eCampusOntario will identify the purposes for which Personal Information is collected at or before the time the Personal Information is collected.

Disclosure of Personal Information.  eCampusOntario does not sell or rent your Personal Information to any third party. We share your Personal Information with third-party service providers that we engage to help us with the Website (and Portal) or our business. These service providers are subject to confidentiality agreements with us and other legal restrictions that prohibit their use of your Personal Information for any purpose other than to assist us with the Website (and Portal) or our business.  We might be required to provide your Personal Information in response to a valid court order, subpoena, government investigation, or as otherwise required by law. We might report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we, in good faith, believe to be unlawful. We might release your Personal Information when we believe that such release is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property and safety of others and ourselves. In some cases, your Personal Information may be processed or stored outside Canada and available to government authorities under lawful orders and laws applicable there.

Anti-Spam Legislation.  eCampusOntario abides by the terms of the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation. We will not engage in any solicitation without you express consent.

Amendment.  eCampusOntario may update this Privacy Statement from time to time to reflect changes its Personal Information practices or any applicable law.   This Privacy Statement is current as of the “last revised” date which appears at the top of this page.

If you ask us to delete your Personal Information, unless restricted by law, we will take reasonable steps to functionally delete your Personal Information from our database, although we may keep a copy for archival purposes for as long as necessary, in our opinion, in compliance with applicable laws. We will respond to your questions or concerns within 30 business days. Before we can respond we might ask you to verify your identity and to provide other details (in a secure manner) to help us to respond to your request.
