Adaptive Learning

Toward Assessment of Adaptive Teaching and Learning Tools: What Matters?

In October 2022, eCampusOntario began offering webinars exploring adaptive learning systems being deployed at Ontario postsecondary institutions.   Leveraging artificial intelligence, these systems make personalized instruction at scale possible, and will see increased use in higher education.

Join us for this three-part series where University of Ottawa professors, Dr. Banafsheh Karamifar and Dr. Edmond Zahedi, will share criteria on how adaptive learning systems could be assessed.  This presentation will address questions such as:

  1. What are the key functions that stakeholders expect from an adaptive teaching and learning system and how can they be implemented?
  2. What is the knowledge, pedagogy, and learner models behind these systems?
  3. How is artificial intelligence being leveraged?
  4. What are the criteria to be considered when selecting an adaptive learning system?

Get inspired and learn what you need to know when introducing adaptive learning into your practice. See below for more details and to register.

April 20, 2023, 12:00 – 1:00 pm ET
Part-one of the series examines the functionality of common adaptive learning systems and how you can assess your needs when selecting a system in your practice. Need live French translation? Connect with communications@ecampusontario.ca by April 13.

May 18, 2023, 12:00 – 1:00 pm ET
Part-two of the series examines the learning theories that support the use of Adaptive Learning, the role of AI and algorithms, and the challenges and biases in Adaptive Learning. Need live French translation? Connect with communications@ecampusontario.ca by May 1.

Can’t attend the session live?
Register anyway – All registrants will receive a recording of the webinar and a copy of any presentation materials.
