Student Seminar

SXD: Kickstart – March 13th, 2017

To be held at the MaRS Discovery Building in Toronto, this eCampusOntario hosted conference is meant to be a sequel to the Student Experience Design Studio (SXD) where we work to action the themes and concepts that were the outcome of that workshop.

We will invite students from across Ontario to gather and participate in a discussion with leaders from within education and industry as they pitch solutions to the five concepts visualized at the Student Experience Design Studio session on January 16th.  Each concept will be introduced by students who attended the SXD.

The five concepts are:

  • Virtual Reality
  • Access in the North
  • The Learning Management System & Consistency in learning platforms
  • Choice through micro-credentials
  • Accessibility (i.e. inclusive design)

A high profile international event

Creative Commons Global Summit – April 28th – 30th, 2017

We are pleased to announce the next Creative Commons Global Summit will take place in Toronto. Sponsored by eCampusOntario, this international event will gather a distinguished global community of technologists, academics, activists, creatives, and legal experts to work together on the expansion and growth of the commons, open knowledge, and free culture for all.

Previous summits were held in Seoul (2015), Buenos Aires (2013), and Warsaw (2011). As one of the most multicultural cities in the world, Toronto is the perfect location for this important meeting of the top minds in our field.

Creative Commons summits have historically kick-started actions to help creators make connections and celebrate the commons - the 2017 summit is poised to be our most successful yet. The event will take place at the beautiful new Delta Hotel in Toronto, Ontario.

The Advancing Learning Conference

Mohawk College - May 17 & 18, 2017

The Advancing Learning Conference has been the province’s premiere instructional technology conference since the 1990s. We have prided ourselves in fostering an environment where educators (faculty, instructional designers, multimedia and graphic specialists) share their direct classroom and faculty support experiences with other colleagues. Educators can learn first-hand from practicing educators about a host of topics related to educational technology, digital tools and digital learning environments, and student engagement. This grassroots approach really does help with advancing learning in Ontario.

A world of new possibilities

ORION ‘Think Open’ Conference – May 24th, 2017

Join us at THINK: Open as we partner with ORION to bring together leaders from our public institutions, subject matter experts, and practitioners to understand how the commons will impact our research, education and innovation sectors.

Get insight into innovative practices already being harnessed across the globe and from experts right here in our own backyard. Discover how you can enable greater transparency, participation, and improved decisions through ‘open’ practices.

Event participants will consider the technology, policies and relationships that enable access, modification, and sharing of the ideas, data and content required to accelerate innovation. The event will take place at the Chestnut Conference Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
